Environmental aging and biodegradation of rubber compounds to match sustainability and circular economy targets in a tyre life cycle perspective, financed by CORIMAV – Pirelli S.p.A.

Alessia Dicesare is an enthusiastic biotechnologist, deeply intrigued and fascinated by microbial life and the opportunities offered by biotechnology.
The laboratory is where her passion truly comes to life. Her goal is to contribute to the creation of scientific innovation for the betterment of society.

She holds a master’s degree in industrial biotechnology (2024) from Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca.
Her internship and MSc’s thesis were dedicated to the enhancement of the shelf life of frozen brewer’s yeast and the valorization of fermentation broths through reutilization strategies from a sustainability perspective.

She is currently pursuing a PhD at the same university, where her research focuses on evaluating the biodegradability of rubber compounds, characterizing microbial communities involved in their degradation, and designing environmentally friendly composites for potential tire applications.
