Financed projects

Agro2Circular – The hidden value of agrifood sector residues (Horizon 2020)

REPLAY – REconnecting PLAstics life cycle to biogeochemical cycles by sustainable hydrolysis and Yeasts fermentation (PRIN 2020SBNHLH)

MUSA – Multilayered Urban Sustainability Action—project – funded by the European Union—NextGenerationEU, under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) Mission 4 Component 2 Investment Line 1.5: Strengthening of research structures and creation of R&D ‘innovation ecosystems’, set up of ‘territorial leaders in R&D’.

Riccardo Milanesi owned his PhD at the University of Milano-Bicocca with an internship at Novo Nordisk Center for Biosustainability in Copenhagen, DK. During his PhD, he focused on the study of microbial metabolism from different perspective and with different model organisms. He investigated the molecular mechanism governing Snf1/AMPK pathway in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and engineered Pseudomonas putida for the overproduction of S-adenosylmethionine.

In 2022, He joined the IndBiotech Lab as a Postdoc for the Agro2Circular project; focusing on the upcycling of ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid derived from PET degradation.

From 2023 he is Technologist for the PNRR-MUSA project, collaborating in the expansion of the Fermentation and Analytic platform of IndBiotech Lab. He is also developing novel strategies to engineer conventional and non-conventional yeasts and exploring different solution for the valorization of biodiversity in biotechnology purposes.
