Fiorella Masotti holds a PhD in Biological Sciences (2023) from the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology of Rosario (IBR-CONICET) and an MSc in Biotechnology from the National University of Rosario, Argentina.
She is a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Milano-Bicocca, focusing on food waste valorization and PET plastic upcycling through synthetic biology and process engineering using yeast and bacteria.
During her PhD, she worked on SynBio tools and metabolic engineering for the degradation, detection, and upcycling of agrochemicals, particularly phosphonates like glyphosate.
Fiorella has presented her work at three international conferences, won four travel grants, and tutored two master’s students. She served as a teaching assistant for Biochemistry at the National University of Rosario and currently tutors the Synthetic Biology for Microbial Biotechnology course at Milano-Bicocca. Her international experience includes a research internship at DTU Biosustain, supported by a FEMS Research and Training Grant, in Prof. Pablo I. Nikel’s lab.
