Microbial bioprocesses and synthetic biology for fostering circularity in textile industry, co-financed by MUR PON Azione IV.5 and ALBINI GROUP
Pietro Butti holds a master’s degree in industrial biotechnology (2021) from Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca. He is currently finishing a PhD at the same university, where his research focuses on textile waste upcycling to natural textile dyes and other small molecules of commercial interest, through synthetic biology, and metabolic and process engineering.
During his PhD, Pietro won three grants for both conferences attendance and research mobility. He also presented his work at four international congresses and meetings.
He has tutored master’s and bachelor’s students, while also working as a laboratory tutor for the Industrial Biotechnology for the Production of Chemicals and Bioenergy course.
As co-founder of Biomycs, a biotech start-up, Pietro is dedicated to driving innovation in sustainable biomanufacturing. His international experience includes a research collaboration with University College Cork in the group of Prof. John Morrissey. Beyond academia, Pietro works as a freelance graphic designer for scientific communication.
