National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC)
National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) funded project – NBFC Spoke 6 – activity 3, tasks 3.1 and 3.3
The project aims to valorize urban biodiversity, developing biorefineries based on residual biomasses and genetically engineered microbial cell factories.

Researcher and assistant professor in industrial biotechnology and fermentation chemistry.
My research is mainly focused biorefineries based on microbial cell factories, applying technologies and concepts, such as bioprospecting and synthetic biology.
Cascading principles and its application in different bioprocesses has been key part of my research activity.
The use of residual biomasses and their valorization are additional elements I had focused on, fitting my experience in the broader bioeconomy and sustainability scenario.
Those topics have also been the driving factors to my educational activities at the academic level.
In addition, I have broad experience in science communication, dissemination and outreach activities, both at the academic and pop culture level, with live events, the use of social media and writing of articles and book on topics such as biotechnology and microbiology.
In 2022 I have been appointed as EU Bioeconomy Youth Ambassador by the European Commission in 2022.
